Stranger Art: Interior Design’s Fascinating New Trend

If you follow design blogs and, no less, Pinterest, you’ll notice a fairly new trend called Stranger Art. Which is pretty much what it sounds like… art whose subject is a portrait of a stranger. I’ve long enjoyed perusing vintage and thrift shops and one of the perks is coming across old photographs of people long gone, discarded at yard + estate sales; donated to the Good Will. Kind of a bummer to think of family photos left to their own devices like this, but thankfully there are those of us who embrace their beauty and, as my friend Gail does, buys them up to recreate with. Going a step further, Stranger Art offers a whole new appreciation for portrait paintings of people we’ve never met, know not a thing about, yet still feel a resonance with. Keeps a space interesting and more dynamic, don’t you think? I’m curious…would you decorate with Stranger Art? Oh hell yes? Oh hell no, too creepy? See these sources and more over on Domino!

The Prettiest London Restaurant / Sketch Gallery

I interrupt this Sunday evening to share the prettiest pink and gold restaurant. Friends, I give to you Sketch Gallery in London. Isn’t it the dreamiest display of eye-candy? The pink and gold and whoa that ceiling. What a space. I’ve been itching to visit London again (last time I went was when I was 14 and, you guys, it was the coolest city. I never forgot it). I also want to visit Amsterdam, Stockholm, Iceland, Paris, and heck…Palm Springs. But no matter for now. Back to this prettiest spot… Can I get a collective swoon? See more here!

Beautiful Restaurant Interiors

I like eating in. I like the comforts of home and the quiet of a safe haven. I also like eating out. A lot. I’d eat out a few times a week, solo or with friends, but these days work deadlines and a desire to simplify the spending have kept me at home whipping up my own meals. This doesn’t stop my wandering eyes (and always hungry belly) from wanting to try out these gorgeous restaurants, though… I’d just end up staring off, probably drooling. It is my way. Dream Home / 12

I haven’t done a Dream Home post in a while. And it’s funny, looking back on the previous ones, to see just how much I gravitate toward scandinavian design. That said, I also love a comfortable home and eye-candy palettes are a must (like the photo above). I also love vintage and antique styling; which I haven’t been able to move away from in my own home. Not gonna ever happen. It’s pathological for this sentimental freak. But back to the less is more approach… How wonderful is this room and ALL of its elements? Pretty wonderful, I’d say. Although I’m not partial to mid-century style furniture throughout the home, instead preferring maybe a couple more subtle accent pieces, I really love the pop and line of color in this room. Cheery, don’t you think? I’m, clearly, very drawn to pink (below) and peach (above) these days.  And isn’t this one lovely? Lots more inspiration over on pinterest, if you’d like to peek and follow along!
